Male Grooming Market Expected to Increase Further

Despite strong growth in the US and UK, the male grooming market has shrunk in several other European countries. What does the future hold for this market and where will future growth be found?

CHESHIRE, ENGLAND, July 22, 2011 /Mens Interest PR News/ -- The male grooming market has become big business in recent years, with celebrities such as David Beckham and Derek Jeter flying the flag for men that care about their appearance. However their example is yet to be followed around the world. Although recent Mintel reports show that the male grooming market has grown in both the UK and US, several European countries have actuially seen the male grooming market contract. Compared to 2009, the Italian market fell by 1.9%, Spain by 7% and France grew by just 0.7%.

What could be the causes of this? Is it due to the economic downturn being felt more severly by men in those countries or is it a case of different styles and tastes? In the UK and US we see several major retailers specifically targeting men through multi million pound ad campaigns. P&G and Unilever are two of the major players in this segment and both have come out with big TV commercials to promote their particular range of male grooming products. There has also been an increase in the number of smaller mens grooming companies setting up online, companies like www.WashBag.com

When it comes to the future of the male grooming market it is difficult to make predictions with any degree of certainty. Although with advertisers set to increase their spend, new markets emerging and the fact that men are slower adopters in this segment than women, it is highly likely that the male grooming market will increase still further and at a faster pace.
